Why we back founders, not ideas
Ideas are cheap and pitch decks are cheaper. The Rodford Group backs people who already know their craft and need clarity, capital and brand to grow.
Every week someone sends me an idea. Most of them are fine. A few are genuinely good. Almost none of them are the reason a business works.
The Rodford Group is built around a simple observation from running businesses myself: the founders who last are the ones who already know their craft. An accountant who has done eight years of tax returns. A designer who has shipped real products. A physio who sees patients every day. They do not need someone to tell them what their customers want. They need structure, capital and a brand that matches the quality of the work.
What “backing” actually means here
We are not a fund and we do not write cheques from a distance. Every business in the group has someone from Rodford inside it, doing a job. At AccountsDynamic that means running the practice. At Blabb Studio it means co-founding it and directing growth. At Club Plate Co. it means being treasurer and keeping the membership records straight.
That matters because the hard problems in a small business are rarely strategic. They are the invoice that did not go out, the structure that was set up wrong in year one, the brand that looks like a hobby when the work is professional. Those problems get solved by being close, not by a quarterly board meeting.
Built around people, not hype
Our portfolio deliberately spans accounting, design, wellness, automotive and construction. There is no theme, and that is the point. What the businesses share is a way of operating: plain language, flat and transparent pricing, and no bureaucracy that does not serve the customer.
If that sounds like how you already work, and you need a partner who understands the weight of building something from the ground up, we should talk.
